How do they work with a client?

Wellness coaching is based on the assumption that a client is resourceful – they already have the answers and it is the coach’s job to ask questions that lead the client to the successful completion of their chosen goal.  I liken it to the game of Jeopardy. 😊

Why would someone choose to work with a wellness coach?

  • to uncover or revitalize their life passion

  • to establish realistic, obtainable goals

  • affirm and utilize their positive qualities and strengths

  • create long-lasting transformational change

How is coaching regulated?

At this time, coaching is an unregulated practice.  This means that anyone can call themselves a coach.  Clients can protect themselves by ensuring the coach they select is certified by a NBHWC (National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches) approved program.

Helen is Master Certified though Catalyst Coaching Institute –

a NBHWC approved program.

Is coaching like therapy?

A coach is not a therapist.  I look at it this way.  Therapists work with clients to uncover their past to inform their present.  They work more from a mental perspective.  Coaches work with clients to discover how their present can move them into the future.  They work from a behavioral perspective.

How much should I expect to pay for wellness coaching services?

Experienced coaches usually charge between $100 and $200 per session.  Many offer packages of multiple sessions which will offer discounted rates.
